3 ways to treat your mum around Brunswick this Mother’s Day

By Jamil Allouche

Once a year, we get the special opportunity to pay gratitude to the hard-working women in our lives. Whether you've got your own mum, the mother of your children or any other maternal figurehead in mind, there are plenty of ways to show your appreciation in and around Brunswick.

Mother's Day falls on Sunday, May 13, this year, so with just under a month ahead of you it's time to start planning.

Mother's Day High Tea at Mary Eats Cake

Book in for a high tea session at Mary Eats Cake at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. for unlimited scones with jam and cream. Also included is a traditional high tea menu, consisting of four savoury items, three sweet items and as much artisanal tea as you can stomach. To get the chatter started, each guest will also enjoy a glass of bubbles on arrival and your mum will receive a special take-home gift. Every purchase of the base package will also contribute a $5 donation to the Royal Women's "Miracle Mums" Appeal.

Of course, if you really want to go above and beyond for your mother, the Very Important Mum package will add a cocktail of her choice, a fruit and cheese platter, bottomless bubbles, macarons for the table and a gift for everyone.

Soy Candlemaking Workshop at Good Vibe Inc.

If your mum's a bit crafty, or you'd just like to break the mould a little, book now for a candlemaking workshop on Mother's Day (also available on the Saturday, if you can't make Sunday).

Over two and a quarter hours, experienced candlemaker Connie Consta will impart as much knowledge to you as possible. You'll learn all about the different kinds of waxes, wick sizes, colours, scents and containers, and even how to troubleshoot problems you might encounter making candles at home. When you walk through the door you'll receive a complementary glass of Champagne and you'll leave the workshop with your very own hand-crafted soy candles.

A single early-bird ticket will cost $80, or you can keep your mum company and score a sweet deal by purchasing a double ticket for $150.

Mother's Day Treatment at Endota Spa Carlton North

Just south of Brunswick, Endota Spa's Carlton North branch is normally closed on Sundays. This year, however, they're opening their doors for the mums of Melbourne to feel pampered on Mother's Day.

All usual treatments will be available on the day, but be sure to book before they sell out! A 10 per cent surcharge will apply, but the mum in your life deserves to have that little extra spent on her. Go all out and book her in for the Immerse package, complete with massage, facial, footbath, full-body exfoliation and a warm oil wrap. Or, if you're treating a soon-to-be mother, the Pregnant Pause package is specifically designed to melt away the stresses felt by women in their second or third trimester.

If a move to the best neighbourhood in Melbourne is on the cards for your mum this year, get in touch with the team at Ray White Brunswick to starting your property hunt today.
