4 rainy day family adventures

By Jamil Allouche

With weather taking a turn for the worse over the next few months, every family will want to plan a couple of day trips around Melbourne so the kids can run off some energy.

Here are a few of our favourite indoor adventures that are just a short ride away from Brunswick and perfect to explore during winter:

1. LEGOLAND Discovery Centre

Located just south of the city in Melbourne, this indoor park is ideal for children ages three through 10. There a number of activities to choose from that will appeal to everyone in the family, like the LEGO factory tour or Merlin's apprentice ride.

Looking for something more hands on? The creative workshop, kingdom quest and Duplo farm allow the kids to be active and get the most out of their experience.

2. Panny's Phillip Island Chocolate Factory

This is a must-see for anyone with a sweet tooth. If you've ever watched the movie "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," then you'll really enjoy the thunderous chocolate waterfall Panny's has, where molten chocolate flows throughout the day.

The family will be able to see the artists behind their 190 treats at work and learn all about how chocolate is made, as well as some facts about Panny. Afterward, you can try your hand at lifting a one tonne block of chocolate, check out the chocolate village or just try some free samples.

3. SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium

Located in the heart of Melbourne is the fascinating world of aquatic life and reptiles. Families get an up-close and personal view of sting rays, sharks and other tropical life through the glass viewing tunnel. There are 12 discovery zones where you can learn about crocodiles, penguins and animals from the rainforest.

Be sure to check out the 4D cinema that's airing Ice Age, as well as the Finding Dory and Friends exhibit. With so much to do, this is truly an all-day adventure.

4. Kryal Castle

Last but not least is a trip back to medieval time, where children can explore a castle and its surrounding village. Best saved for a dry day on the weekend, the park gives families the opportunity to explore a maze, see knights joust and give archery a shot.

With so many attractions located near property in Brunswick, it would be a shame to keep everyone inside on those rainy afternoons. Be sure to get out and explore this winter. If you're looking to rent or buy real estate in the area, contact a Ray White representative today.
