Capital city residential land sale rise over 2014

By Jamil Allouche

If you're considering the construction of your own property in Carlton, now could be a great time to look into buying land. The latest Housing Industry Association (HIA) and RP Data Residential Land report has highlighted the healthy new home construction landscape emerging across the nation.

HIA chief economist Harley Dale said that in the June quarter alone, land sales were up by 8.4 per cent across the nation, with both detached and semi-detached properties experiencing these levels of growth.

"Both capital city and regional land markets experienced higher turnover during the June 2014 quarter. Growth was stronger in the aggregate regional land markets – up 13 per cent compared to a 5.5 per cent lift for Australia's six state capitals," said Mr Dale in a 23 October statement.

RP Data research director Tim Lawless went on to say this was the strongest result recorded since the 2013 June quarter, highlighting the upward trend of the market over the last six months. As the economy continues to grow –  with more jobs and housing commitments – the strength of the national market should continue upwards.
