How is Brunswick encouraging people to support the fight against cancer?

By Jamil Allouche

The community spirit in Brunswick is second to none – there is always something going on that people want to be a part of, and there's almost certainly a good cause behind it.

Each year, thousands of Australians, young and old, compete in relays and sporting events in a bid to raise awareness for cancer. This year, the Moreland Relay for Life was held at Clifton Park and was a roaring success. This true feeling of being in a community with our neighbours might just be what brings more and more people into real estate in Brunswick. What would you encourage your new neighbours to take part in with you?

Are you a supporter of cancer awareness?

According to the Cancer Council of Australia, 2015 brought with it 126,800 new cases of cancer around the country – 69,790 males and 57,010 females being diagnosed. What's more, there were projected to be 46,570 deaths, of which 26,470 were males and 20,100 females. That's a staggering amount for a country with only 24 million people in it, and the more people that are aware of how dangerous the health issue is, the more can be done to put an end to these high numbers.

The Moreland Mayor's Team had a spot in the latest local relay, and donations are being taken for theirs and many other teams in the regions' efforts until 16 April 2016.

Relay for Life – how much better our country could be

If Australians were significantly more aware of the importance of being sun smart, avoiding smoking cigarettes and being more careful about what they eat, as well as scientists having more funding to find a solution to this global threat, what would Australia look like?

If everyone in Brunswick was out in force supporting the Relay for Life in 2017, imagine how much money could be raised. Real estate in Brunswick is ready and waiting for buyers to snap up a bargain and become a part of our community.
