How to be a great tenant

By Jamil Allouche

There's nothing landlords and property managers love more than having a great tenant. There are a lot of things you can do to be the apple of their investment eye, allowing for a harmonious relationship based around their real estate in Brunswick

First and foremost, paying your rent in full and on time consistently is a great place to start. Having to take time out of their day to chase you down and ask for your rent can be a big task and something that can put a mark on your references! So, simply set up an automatic payment to ensure the money goes out at the right time.

Furthermore, remember you're only renting their home. This means you're not allowed to simply hang picture hooks up, make adjustments to the property, or do anything that could cause long term changes to the house. If you're interested in having some work done, it's best to talk with your property manager about organising it – they can make the final call and perhaps get a professional in to do the job.

Keep detail notes of any issues that do arise and discuss these with the landlord or property manager as soon as possible. Not only does this keep you free of any blame, but you also have a record for when you vacate the property.
