Melbourne’s Parklands Set To Expand

By Jamil Allouche

Those with property in Brunswick and owners of Coburg real estate may have a lot to look forward to with the development of Melbourne's parklands.

The Edgars Creek Parklands, a community park in the City of Moreland, is now set to expand to the size of 15 Melbourne cricket grounds.

More than 11 hectares will be added to the Parklands, giving locals a whole new green space complete with updated facilities to enjoy.

"Open space and parklands are some of Melbourne's greatest assets and this expansion ensures that Edgars Creek Parklands will be enjoyed by the community for many years to come," said Minister for Planning Matthew Guy on November 19.

"Parks and gardens consistently rated as number one in the aspects of Melbourne that people value most in surveys we conducted as part of developing Plan Melbourne," noted Mr Guy in addition, referring to the Plan Melbourne blueprint that outlines how the city will progress into the future.

Mr Guy also acknowledged the importance of healthy and active neighbourhoods, saying that open space areas such as the Edgars Creek Parklands play a key role in maintaining a community's wellbeing.
