Moreland Named Finalist In Sustainability Awards

By Jamil Allouche

Sustainability is the name of the game in real estate these days, and if you’re looking for a clean, green community to join then look no further than property in Brunswick.

The City of Moreland has been announced as one of the six finalists for the Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Sustainable Cities Award 2013.

Ryan Smith, minister of environment and climate change, announced June 14 that Moreland would be among the cities competing for the award.

“The Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Awards are now in their ninth year and play an important role in celebrating and recognising positive practical actions taken by Victorian communities to enhance their environment,” Mr Smith said in a statement released June 14.

The other cities nominated include Monash, Brimbank, Yarra, Melton, and Frankston, with the winner representing Victoria in the national awards this November.

There are ten categories that need to be satisfied in order for a victor to be crowned. Ranging from active schools and cultural heritage, right through to resource recovery and waste management, litter prevent, and environmental sustainability.

If you’re looking to buy real estate in Brunswick or any of the surrounding areas, get in contact with the team at Ray White Brunswick and join one of the top six most sustainable communities in Victoria state.
