Tune in to the Brunswick Music Festival

By Jamil Allouche

Are you living in a property in Brunswick or are on the hunt for one? One sure sign that you're in a great suburb is when there are plenty of vibrant events happening in the local area. Brunswick is certainly no exception, with the suburb hosting a great selection of events ranging from community get-togethers to larger-scale festivals.

Are your ears itching for some live music? An event worth your attention is the Brunswick Music Festival, which will be held on 15 to 20 March. This event is presented by Performing Arts Moreland and features a diverse array of artists to please your ears.

Local gems that will be performing include award-winning blues and roots artist Mia Dyson, folk songwriter Jess Ribeiro, soul powerhouse Kylie Auldist and many more.

There will also be plenty of talent hailing from beyond our shores. One you definitely won't want to miss is Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro. This classy six-piece instrumental band is coming all the way from Tokyo, Japan, calling their music 'Godzilla funk'. This may just be the most appropriate name for their brand of sound, which is an exciting, slick and powerful mix of jazz and rock.

Furthermore, the event will be held in conjunction with the Sydney Road Street Party. This is a free festival filled with dance, food, market stalls and live music, which will be performed across multiple stages on the street. The event will be held over the entire 800 metre stretch that connects Union to Victoria Street.

With so much going on and something for just about everyone, this event won't be one you'll want to miss out on.
