Melbourne Boasts Two Award-Winning Parks

By Jamil Allouche

If being close to green open spaces is a feature you're looking for in a home, you might want to direct your search toward Carlton property or homes in surrounding suburbs.

Real estate in Brunswick and Carlton is in prime location for residents to take advantage of the many great facilities that Melbourne has on hand, some of which include award-winning parks.

Royal Park, located just a couple of kilometres from Carlton and Brunswick, was recently given the Green Flag Award in recognition of its high-quality open spaces and community value.

Assessable criteria for the award includes look and feel, safety, conservation, sustainability and community involvement, among others.

At over a century old, Royal Park has provided local residents throughout history with a perfect sport to participate in recreational sport, cycle around and soak up the views or simply enjoy the flora and fauna the park provides.

Royal Park will now join Fitzroy Gardens as the second park in Melbourne to receive the Green Flag Award, demonstrating how much the City of Melbourne takes pride in providing open spaces for residents to enjoy.

"Royal Park is unlike any of our other parks. It is more unruly and less manicured, and its size alone at 160 hectares creates a unique sense of escape for city residents and visitors," commented Environment Portfolio Chair Councillor Arron Wood in a January 8 statement.
